I got my first Jack Russell Terrier in 2002, Maggie, from the Northern California rescue. That is when I first started attending the various play days and JRTCA Sanctioned Trials. It didn't take long before I was stepping up and helping at these events, which then led to being on the board of directors of one of the clubs in Northern California, as well as helping other clubs and individuals put on their Trials, which I actively continue to do in the Tri-States and California.
During the years since I got my first JRT, I have naturally gotten more of them. Like potato chips, you can't have just one. As I've had some wonderful dogs enter my life, I have also had the difficult task of saying goodbye to some of those dogs as they have aged. I've also met some wonderful folks within the JRT community and made some amazing friends, that I consider my family.
While I didn't get my first dog so that I could hunt, I soon realized the importance of allowing her to do what she was bred to do. So, I ventured into the hunting community with my Jack Russells and was honored to have been able to get a Bronze Medallion as well as a Lifetime Achievement in the field on one of my girls and now have one NHC on my youngest dog, Jade. I look forward to having many more experiences and achievements with her in the field and spending time within a community I've come to know and love. |
